Families and friends of the two Slovak soldiers killed in a bomb attack on a military convoy in Kabul on Friday last are paying their last respects on Thursday, January 2nd. One of the funerals is taking place in Košice and the other in the town of Žilina.
The two soldiers were a part of the 5th Special Operations Regiment of the Slovak Army based in Žilina. They had been deployed in Afghanistan in November 2013 and were preparing the base in Kabul for the arrival of 78 Slovak soldiers. The families of the two fallen soldiers have requested that the media grant them privacy at the funerals.
