Slovak towns hosted New Year’s celebrations, with thousands of people going to the streets to enjoy concerts, cultural programs, and accompanying events thus bidding farewell to the year 2013 and welcoming the New Year.
Apart from Slovaks tourists also came to Slovakia’s capital Bratislava for this celebration. The situation in the capital was calm. Around 170 people sought the help of the various facilities of the University Hospital in Bratislava during the New Year's Eve celebrations. Fireworks and the wish balloons caused fires in the region of Nitra.
