It is up to politicians to prevent society from disintegrating due to a lack of public trust in the state, said President Andrej Kiska in his State of the Republic Address in Parliament on Wednesday. His speech was considered by coalition MPs as very critical and lacking in positive aspects. Most-Híd chair and Parliamentary Vice-chair Béla Bugár said: "I respect the president's view of Slovakia's problems, but despite the problems that we're struggling with, there's still a lot of positive energy and positive progress in this country that has taken place over the past two years." On the contrary, representatives of the parliamentary opposition praised the President's speech on Wednesday as pithy and critical but truthful.
