100 years of Pittsburgh agreement celebrated in USA

Deputy Foreign Minister Lukáš Parízek took part in an official event held on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the signature of the Pittsburgh agreement in the USA on Thursday. "A hundred years ago, 29 men met in this city and probably at the same time to join their skills and powers for the sake of a state newly beginning to establish itself… they were united in their faith in the future of two nations," stated Parízek. As he added, Slovaks value their statehood and are mainly proud of the latest 25 years of independence and economic growth. The event was also attended by representatives of Slovak and Czech expat communities, of the state of Pennsylvania and by the mayor of Pittsburgh, William Peduto. The celebrations include a joint WWI Centennial Exhibition prepared by the Institute of History of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and the Military History Institute Prague.
