Saturday should see the first of sixteen charter flights arriving from Ukraine and Russia to Poprad throughout the winter season. Approximately 3000 tourists are expected to make use of Slovakia’s winter ski season; an increase of ten percent on the previous winter season, according to the director of Poprad airport, Ivana Herkeľová.
Conversely, for the first eleven months of this year 23,997 passengers passed through Poprad airport - almost 20 percent fewer than the same period last year. The number of passengers on charter flights however increased.
