Draft amendment on salaries of constitutional officials withdrawn

The Cabinet has decided to withdraw from Parliament the draft amendment to the law on salaries of some constitutional officials, which should have been discussed by lawmakers in May. In February, Parliament moved to the second reading of the proposal to freeze the salaries of some constitutional officials. The Cabinet originally submitted to Parliament an amendment to the law on the salaries of some constitutional officials to prevent their salaries being hiked in 2018. The proposal concerns MPs, the president, Cabinet members, the president and vice-chairs of the Supreme Audit Office, the Public Defender of Rights. With this proposal, the Cabinet expects savings of €4.1 million in the state budget.
