The views of Slovakia and Denmark on child benefits and the next multi-year EU budget differ, Slovak Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini and his Danish counterpart Lars Lokke Rasmussen, concurred on Tuesday in Bratislava. Nevertheless, both countries are showing an effort to continue discussing these issues. Pellegrini reiterated Slovakia's stance on the multi-year financial framework. "Slovakia understands that the post-Brexit budget will be smaller, but if all countries come to an agreement on this, Slovakia stands ready to contribute to the European budget more," he said. The Danish line of argumentation is: a smaller Europe needs a smaller budget, stated Lars Lokke Rasmussen, adding that the budget should not exceed 1 percent of the EU's GDP. His Tuesday visit to Slovakia was the first visit by a Danish premier in fifteen years.
