President Andrej Kiska will not run for the post again

"I will not run for the post of Slovakia's President next year," announced the incumbent President Andrej Kiska on Tuesday citing personal reasons. "I have never hidden the fact that family life is important to me. In the past year, we have experienced both happy and tragic events in our family. Both of them reminded me that time spent with family is irreplaceable, " said Kiska. He added that he would remain active in politics after the end of his mandate in office but will offer more details on this respect after local elections in November. On Monday, the former Prime Minister and presidential candidate Robert Fico urged Kiska to publish the full financial report of his company KTAG for the year 2013-2014. A tax inspection revealed that the firm had paid €27,000 less in income tax than it was supposed to. The company admitted a mistake, expressed regret, and paid the tax additionally; thus the deed was no longer considered a crime.
