Almost 75% of Slovaks agree with Slovakia's membership in the European Union. More than 22% have the opposite opinion, indicates a survey carried out by the Focus agency on the occasion of Europe Day, which was on May 9. The data indicated which groups are the most affirmative of EU membership. They are voters for the opposition party Freedom and Solidarity, students, people aged 18 to 34, as well as people with university education. Within these groups more than 80% are 'for'. On the other hand, half of the voters of the far-right Kotleba-People's Party Our Slovakia are against the membership.
Among other groups, which include an above average anti-EU membership sentiment (all around 30%) are, for example, those with elementary school education, those living in large cities, the retired and people who define themselves as 'conservative'.
