USA cancelling Iran nuclear deal ‘regrettable step’

US President Donald Trump declared on Tuesday that the USA was withdrawing from a significant nuclear agreement with Iran, undoing a foreign policy pact made by his predecessor Barack Obama. In response, State Secretary for the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ivan Korčok, stated on Wednesday that it was a regrettable step. The 2015 nuclear agreement was reached by seven countries after more than two years' worth of negotiations, with the USA now re-imposing the tough sanctions it imposed on Iran before the deal. According to Ivan Korčok, the EU and the Slovak Republic are calling on the remaining countries involved in the agreement to continue respecting it. Iran announced that it will remain in the deal in return for ending the sanctions that had crippled its economy.
