Cabinet meeting results in more food packages for those in need

Individuals who receive Material Need Assistance in Slovakia should soon begin receiving food packages. This stems from the Revised Operational Program for Food and Basic Assistance for 2014-2020, which was approved by the government on Wednesday. The Labour, Social Affairs and Family Ministry submitted the material to Cabinet, with the reasons being to widen the identification of the final recipients of food packages, to change the criteria when selecting food distribution partners, and to resolve rumours surrounding hot meals being provided during the winter. The number of food package recipients has been decreasing, with final recipients typically only being socially dependent retirees or social security recipients, disabled individuals, and socially dependent families with dependent children. The Labour Office estimates that approximately 41,693 beneficiaries should be positively affected by this increase this year.
