Comparing to other EU countries, Slovakia produces relatively little garbage, however, it also recycles little, said the director of the NATUR-PACK company Michal Sebíň for the TASR press agency. Each Slovak produces 348 kilograms of garbage, which is one of the lowest figures within the EU, with the average lying between 500 and 600 kilograms. Germany, the Netherlands and Scandinavian countries produce the most garbage, but they are also the best at recycling. As the Eurostat's data from 2016 indicate, Slovakia is recycling or composting only 23% of its garbage. According to the agreement between EU institutions, this should be at least at 55% by 2025. Maximum of 10% of garbage should end up on dumps by 2030. In this aspect, Slovakia was at 66% in 2016.
