A fire broke out in the High Tatra Mountains, covering an area of about 30 hectares on Thursday. The forest fire in the area of Kežmarské Žľaby was being extinguished from about 2 p.m. by approximately 50 professional and volunteer firefighters. At the same time, a Mi-17 helicopter of the Armed Forces with a Bambi bucket arrived on the site, and started to extinguish the fire from above. Fighting the fire was difficult because of the hard-to-access mountainous terrain. Tourists are being asked to avoid the locality.
