Following the 2017 abduction in Germany of convicted Vietnamese politician Trinh Xuan Thanh, allegedly by members of the Vietnamese secret service, allegations have arisen from the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung news source that the official Vietnamese visit to Slovakia of the time was a cover for the abduction, alleging that the abductee was transported away on a plane after the delegates visited Bratislava. Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini and German Chancellor Angela Merkel are expected to discuss the kidnapping case in Berlin on Wednesday. The prime minister will also meet German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
