Slovakia welcomes inter-Korean summit results

The Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry welcomes the results of the inter-Korean summit, at which a joint declaration on peace and prosperity was adopted, aimed at creating permanent stability on the Korean peninsula, TASR learnt on Saturday. "The Slovak Republic supports the peace talks and expects concrete steps to be adopted that will lead towards the full and verifiable denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula, the de-escalation of tensions and towards improving inter-Korean relations to ensure lasting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula," reads the statement. The historic meeting of the leaders of North and South Korea, Kim Jong-un and Moon Jae-in, respectively, took place on April 27 in the village of Panmunjom situated in the demilitarised zone on the border between the two Koreas. The North Korean leader expressed his will to terminate the nuclear programme in his country. The two leaders pledged to work for the "complete denuclearisation" of the Korean peninsula with the objective of end officially the 1950-53 Korean War.
