Finance Minister Peter Kažimír gave a statement on Thursday regarding the development of public finances. As he stated, the key discrepancy lies in the two-sided position. "On the one hand, everybody is calling for a balanced economy, and on the other hand there are many people saying that a lot of things remain underfinanced," said the Finance Minister. As an example, he spoke about the demand for better roads and railways on the one hand but a requirement of higher wages for people working in the public sector on the other. At the same time, Kažimír announced that the current situation of Slovak economy was great and that the country would reach the goal of a balanced economy. He noted that Slovakia's plan is to achieve a trade surplus in 2018.
