Daniel Zmeko has become the new Chief of the General Staff of the Slovak Armed Forces. Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš claims that Zmeko is a skilled professional who meets all the requirements for the post. Minister Gajdoš's choice has been criticised by the opposition for insufficient transparency in purchasing armoured transporters. As a form of protest to posting Zmeko to the position a three-star General Pavel Macko is leaving the Army.
