Slovakia will allocate €600,000 from its development aid fund for Syria, said Ambassador Ľubomír Čaňo of Slovakia's Permanent Representation to the EU. He was speaking at the international conference 'Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region' held in Brussels on Wednesday. According to Čaňo, the event organised by the EU along with the UN is putting across several important political messages. One of them is to recall that the international community has not forgotten about the crisis in Syria and is striving to increase efforts in accumulating resources to ease the suffering of people in this country. "The total sum for Slovakia will thus reach some €15 million by 2020," said Čaňo.
