Minister Peter Gajdoš will propose for the post of chief of the general staff of the Armed Forces a general who will meet all the legal conditions and has all the professional prerequisites to hold this post. The Defence Ministry spokesperson Danka Capáková informed about this matter on Thursday in response to statements made by Opposition OĽaNO party MPs Eduard Heger and Veronika Remišová. OĽaNO called on Gajdoš on Thursday not to appoint to the post of chief of the general staff Daniel Zmeko, the incumbent armaments director. The Opposition party at the same time demanded that the Defence Ministry should cancel the tender for purchasing armoured personnel carriers, for which Zmeko is responsible.
