Slovakia averted great gas crisis

Slovakia has averted a great gas crisis as, after years of disputes, the country has managed to retain its position as the largest transporter of Russian gas to the EU, writes the Pravda daily. The transit of Russian gas is of extraordinary importance for Slovakia, as the transport fees feed hundreds of millions of euro into the state coffers and finance Slovak health and education. In the big geopolitical game, there were attempts to deprive Slovakia of this transit, notes the daily. "We accomplished everything we wanted, even more than we expected. We have agreements that address any situation," said Foreign and European Affairs Ministry ambassador for energy security Pavol Hamžík.
