Farmers Accept Matecna's Offer, But Want to Meet Later

Farmers welcome and accept the offer of Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Gabriela Matečná for a joint negotiation, TASR learnt on Tuesday. However, they want the meeting to be carried out under conditions that will contribute to a professional and just solution to the problems in agriculture. Therefore, they propose that the meeting offered by the ministry to be held on Thursday, April 12, should be moved to April 24-26 to the municipal office in the village of Haniska, eastern Slovakia. The minister invited the farmers to a meeting, which should be attended by representatives of the Agriculture Ministry, the Agricultural Payment Agency, the Slovak Land Fund, the Police Corps Regional Office, the Regional Court and the Regional Prosecution Office in Kosice. Farming professionals claim that the invitation from the agriculture ministry was sent only to a narrow group of four farmers.
