Meteorologists have issued a warning to motorists to be on the lookout for black ice on the nation’s roads until Thursday afternoon. Motorists in southwestern Slovakia have already reported instances of ice on the roads due to freezing drizzle settling on the road surface, in the Orava and Kysuce regions.
Police have suggested motorists try to avoid the section between Dunajská Streda and Šamorín. Sections of black ice have already appeared on the major D1 highway between Bratislava and Trnava with several vehicles reported as having lost control, finishing up in the ditch. Motorists are advised to drive with extreme caution.
