Investments totalling €55.75 million have been allocated from public resources as part of a plan for the development of the Gelnica district in eastern Slovakia. This was announced during the government's away-from-home session in the village of Prakovce (Košice region) on Thursday. The plan aims to contribute towards the creation of 931 new jobs by 2022 in the area; one of Slovakia's least developed regions, battling with high unemployment. An additional €1 million will be spent on the reconstruction of local roads, schools and churches, as well as the building of an ice hockey arena.
