International Roma Day will be observed on April 8 this year, celebrating Romani culture and to raise awareness of discrimination and human rights issues which Roma face. Poor sanitation, a lack of nutrition, and high unemployment are issues Roma endure in the European Union are just some of the dilemmas Roma are up against, states the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights in its most recent report. It underlines that inequality persists for Roma in Europe; one of the world's richest regions.
