World Bank’s “Doing Business” project extended at regional level

The Economy Ministry extended its cooperation with the World Bank in order to acquire a more precise and clear overview of the state of doing business in Slovakia at the regional level. The goal is to evaluate and compare business environments in individual towns and cities. The first results are expected by mid-2018. "The latest 2017 'Doing Business' report confirms that Slovakia's standing, in terms of competitiveness within the EU, took a turn for the worse and the gap between Slovakia and the top countries has widened," said analyst Tibor Lalinský of the Slovak Central Bank. The ministry defends itself saying that "not every measure that was passed with an aim to improve the business environment in Slovakia has a tangible impact on Slovakia's Doing Business ranking".
