Last year 5,426 Slovaks declared personal bankruptcy, which represents a year-on-year increase of 550 percent, according to the consulting company Bisnode. Its data shows a continuing large increase in the number of personal bankruptcy claims this year. The record number of personal bankruptcies in Slovakia, according to Bisnode, is a simpler way of getting rid of personal debts. It was introduced by an amendment to the Bankruptcy and Restructuring Act in force in Slovakia since March 2017.
