Journalists' murder will be investigated, Pellegrini assures Brussels

The investigation into the murders of journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kušnírová is a complex case, yet the Government will do its utmost to have it resolved, Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) said on Thursday after arriving to what is his first EU summit in Brussels in his new role. When asked by foreign journalists about the progress of the investigation into the double murder, Pellegrini conceded that he's not familiar with the details at this moment. "It's the most massive investigation in the history of Slovakia. This case has seen the greatest amount of police officers assigned to it since the creation of Slovakia, almost all elements are busy with it," said Pellegrini. Pellegrini added that Slovak investigators on the case are also engaged in cooperation with international organisations, Italian police and other partners, all of whom "want to help us". "It's a complex case and finding the perpetrators will be extremely important. We'll do our utmost to make it happen, as that's important not only to the Government, but also to people and the bereaved that we find the truth," he claimed.
