Second World War re-enactment on Saturday

The Mor ho! society of military history in cooperation with Galanta City Council will be re-enacting the final days of the Second World War in the town of Galanta on Saturday, located 50 kilometres from Bratislava. The event is to include reconstructed street battles between advancing Soviet and Romanian forces and the retreating German troops, on the 73rd anniversary of the end of World War II. At 8:00 AM there will be static displays of historical military armament on the main square, at 10:00 AM a reconstruction of the arrest of a French partisan will take place at the railway station, and at 1:00 PM organisers will conduct a military inspection of the Allied forces at the main square, before laying wreaths for Red Army soldiers. The main battle reconstruction will take place in the park next to the town's neo-gothic manor house at 2:00 PM.
