Customs officers uncover counterfeit clothing

Bratislava customs officers uncovered hundreds of counterfeit brand name items in warehouses in Stará Vajnorská street in the capital, estimated to be worth more than 400 thousand euro. Representatives of several high-end clothing brands have confirmed that if the scarves, blankets, stockings and socks were sold by traders as original products, they would have earned close to half a million euro, reported Bratislava Customs Office Spokesperson Drahomíra Adamčíková. "The inspectors, after a thorough check in a warehouse of a businessman, found that in the boxes containing non-branded textiles there were also goods that appeared to violate the branding rights of authorised individuals," said Adamčíková. According to customs officers, the discovered counterfeit goods were reproduced at a convincing level of quality. The spokesperson said that the goods have been confiscated, having a value estimated at €401,958.
