Slovaks are generally well informed about the European Parliament (EP), as well as about the upcoming EP elections slated for late May 2014, according to a Eurobarometer poll. More than a third of Europeans (34 percent) know that the EP elections will be held and as many as 38 percent of Slovak respondents know the date.
When it comes to the perception of the EP's role in the functioning of the EU, 53 percent of Europeans and 79 percent of Slovaks see the EP as the most important of all the EU's institutions. Some 79 percent of Europeans and Slovaks believe that the EP should address job creation and combat unemployment.
