No support for new government

President Andrej Kiska announced on Tuesday that he would not appoint a new cabinet in the composition that was proposed to him by designated Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini. Kiska conveyed specific objections to Pellegrini and asked him to come up with a new line-up of nominees for government members by this Friday. Kiska stressed that Pellegrini needs to form a government, the staffing of which, particularly the interior minister, should endeavour to calm down the tense climate in society. Parliamentary Chairman and coalition Slovak National Party head Andrej Danko acknowledges President Andrej Kiska's decision not to appoint the new cabinet.
