73rd Anniversary of Skycov's burning remembered

On Sunday a commemorative event took place to mark the 73rd anniversary of the tragedy of Skýcov in the Nitra region, a village that was burnt down by the Nazis at the end of WWII. The village was the base of several partisan units during the war. On March 16th, 1945, the occupying forces burnt the village down for its assistance in the national liberation fight, taking 13 of its residents to Nazi concentration camps. Skýcov was liberated just two weeks later on March 30, 1945 by the troops of the Red Army.
