The extraordinary parliamentary session originally slated for Monday (March 19) to hold a no-confidence motion in former Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) won't take place, in light of the fact that Fico resigned on his own. Thus the Opposition will withdraw its proposal to convene the session. "We'll get in touch with partners from the parties OĽaNO and We Are Family, and we'll take all the steps necessary so as to abort the session. There is no sense in ousting a prime minister who has already tendered his resignation, which was already accepted by President Andrej Kiska," TASR was told by Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) vice-chair Ľubomír Galko. The motion to hold a no-confidence vote in Fico was submitted in the wake of the murders of investigative journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kušnírová and the publishing of Kuciak's unfinished article, in which he was digging into alleged connections between Government officials and Italian mafia.
