On Saturday, Slovak skier Veronika Velez-Zuzulová officially ended her career. She made her farewell in German Ofterschwang at the World Cup race. Zuzulová chose to compete in her last race wearing the Slovak traditional folk costume consisting of a skirt, shirt, vest, petticoat and head band - all with a flower pattern. The 33-year old confessed that her body was no longer able to handle the load. Zuzulová started skiing at the age of three. When she was fourteen, she won the Trofeo Topolino in Italy, an unofficial children's world championship. Veronika has been part of professional skiing since 2002, when she was 17. She took part in four Winter Olympic Games, finished second overall in the World Cup slalom discipline two times - in 2016 and 2017 - and third in 2008 and 2013. A silver medal from the team event at the 2017 World Championships in St. Moritz is also one of her biggest successes.
