Slovak women outside Bratislava earn 25% less than men

Slovak females living outside the capital city earn incomes 25% lower than men, which amounts to the greatest disparity among Visegrad Four countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia), wrote the TASR press agency, citing the job advertisement website Profesia. Less severe disparity can be seen in the Bratislava region, where the figure equalled 20%. Whereas in Poland and Slovakia, the income disparities between sexes were lower in capital cities, it was the other way around in the Czech Republic and Hungary. In Prague, for instance, females earn incomes 23% lower than men, a trend that can be attributed to the greater presence of management jobs in the capital city, the field where men are represented in higher proportions. The top 10% earners in Bratislava make more than €2,500 monthly, with 80% of them being men. The situation is worse in the rest of Slovakia, where in the bracket of top 10% of earners outside Bratislava, 82% are men and 18% women.
