George Soros rejects Slovak Prime Minister’s accusations

George Soros has played no role in either Slovak President Andrej Kiska's recent speech calling for a Cabinet reshuffle or in recent demonstrations in Slovakia, said Michael Vachon, a spokesperson for Soros. He reacted to Prime Minister Robert Fico, who alleged that the well-known financier might be behind Kiska's speech and current political tensions in Slovakia following a meeting they had last year. Soros' spokesperson explained that the two met in New York in September 2017 during the United Nations General Assembly. They talked about how to better help the Roma community to integrate in Slovakia. Meanwhile in Slovakia, Fico's statement drew criticism. Most-Híd, a junior coalition member, has called on the PM not to make negotiations about a government reshuffle more difficult with his statements. On Tuesday three top figures in the Smer party stated that the Prime Minister has the full support of party leadership and members.
