Slovak Culture Minister Marek Maďarič handed his resignation to President Andrej Kiska on Monday afternoon. Maďarič decided to leave his post last week in reaction to the murder of investigative journalist Ján Kuciak and his girlfriend Martina Kušnírová. On Saturday, Prime Minister Robert Fico suggested that Peter Pellegrini, currently Deputy Prime Minister for Informatisation could temporarily take the position after Maďarič.
