The European Commission will look into allegations that funds for agriculture in eastern Slovakia were misused by companies with links to the Italian mafia, said EU Budget Commissioner Günter Oettinger. In an interview with the German newspaper Die Welt, he said that the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) might also investigate information released in the last article of the murdered Slovak journalist Ján Kuciak. They requested information from Slovakia on the financial flows of the EU funds to eastern Slovakia. After analysing it, it will take an official position within a few weeks.
