A special newsroom will be set up in Bratislava for the best investigative journalists from the Ringier Axel Springer media group to continue the work of murdered journalist Ján Kuciak. He used to work for the news site Aktuality.sk, owned by Ringier Axel Springer. Among other things, Kuciak was investigating suspicions of fraudulent payments of EU funds to companies with alleged links to the Italian 'Ndrangheta' mafia and Slovak politicians. He cooperated in this case with the Czech Centre for Investigative Journalism, the Investigative Project of Italy and the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project.
