In January of 2018, consumers in Slovakia paid by 6.8 percent more for food and non-alcoholic drinks year-on-year. This is the most significant increase in the EU, for the third consecutive month, according to a newly released analysis of the Slovak Farm Cooperative Society (SFD), based on Eurostat data. Most Slovaks have found themselves paying more for eggs and butter. Conversely, cheaper sugar was sold in shops.
