Slovakia is among the EU countries that provide only few investment incentives, or the least amount of state aid, stated Economy Minister Peter Žiga last weekend. He pointed to European Commission statistics showing that Slovakia provides on average only 0.47 percent of investment incentives from its gross domestic product. On the contrary, opposition Freedom and Solidarity party MP Jana Kissová, said that they considered investment incentives to be harmful. "We view them as detrimental, they are implemented incorrectly in our country," she said, adding that they are allocated in the wrong places and thus cause regional disparities, as most of the investment incentives go to economically strong regions.
