Unemployment down to 5.8 percent in January

The unemployment rate, calculated based on the number of jobseekers officially registered at the Labour Office, decreased to 5.88 percent at the end of January. However, the January fall in the registered unemployment rate is linked to an increase in the number of economically active people from the beginning of this year, from which the percentage of unemployment is calculated. Approximately 160,000 unemployed people are ready to take up a job immediately, according to the Labour Office data.
