Slovakia to be paid €820,000 for having soldiers in Iraq

NATO allies will pay €820,000 to Slovakia as part of a cost reimbursement in connection with the presence of members of the Slovak Armed Forces in Iraq, Defence Ministry spokesperson Danka Capáková told TASR on Thursday. "We consider the stabilisation of Iraq and the building up of the Iraqi security forces to be our contribution towards global security. At the same time there's a good piece of news for all the people of the Slovak Republic - almost 80 percent of the total costs will be refunded by the Allies," said Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš. According to the Defence Ministry, Germany will contribute €500,000 to Slovakia, the Netherlands €200,000, Luxembourg €100,000 and Croatia €20,000.
