Bratislava airport has second best January result in its history

M. R. Štefánik Airport in Bratislava processed 116,992 passengers this January, which is the second highest January figure in the airport's 67-year history and the best figure to be reported for the past 10 years, said airport spokesperson Veronika Ševčíková on Tuesday. The number of passengers cleared upon arrival and departure grew 18 percent year-on-year in January. "The growth can be ascribed to new routes to Sophia and Warsaw opened by the airline Wizz Air, a higher frequency of flights to Kiev and London-Stansted, as well as a new route to Bologna, Italy, launched by the airline Ryanair," said airport general director Jozef Pojedinec. The airport also reported growth with other operating indicators, having a total of 1,665 flights, up 17 percent y-o-y, and the volume of handled air cargo rose 11 percent y-o-y to 2,025 tonnes.
