The European commission held a meeting of the EU Battery Alliance on Monday. Slovakia was one of the 15 countries attending represented by European Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič. The main goal of their debate was to strengthen political commitments of the member states for developing battery manufacturing in EU member states so to compete with Asian and US manufacturers. Maroš Šefčovič told TASR press agency that European Commission estimates 25% of cars on European roads would be electromobiles or hybrids as of 2025. "The battery market should reach 250 billion EUR annually," said the Slovak EU commissioner.
