Slovaks returned 134 tons of medicines in 2017

In 2017, Slovaks returned 134 tons of unused medicines, wrote the TASR press agency on Sunday. Thus, the number has increased, as it was over 118 tons the year before. The largest amount was returned in the Bratislava region, and the fewest unused drugs were returned in the Nitra, Trnava and Banská Bystrica regions. The collection of unused medicines lies in the competence of the State Institute for Drug Control, which thus tries to avoid the binning or flushing of unused drugs, which might lead to environmental pollution with the contamination of land or groundwater, as well as putting human health in danger.
