Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák believes that it's a mistake if certain international political figures stand up for one of the rivalling sides in Ukraine.
“We should defend democratic principles and processes, and support dialogue and communication. Our task doesn't consist of taking the side of one of the participants of Ukraine's domestic affairs; this should be resolved by Ukrainian citizens themselves. Nevertheless, it's necessary to make sure that they are provided scope for a democratic decision,” said Lajčák. People in Ukraine took to the streets after the government decided not to approve the planned signing of the Association Agreement with the EU and turning back toward Russia instead.
