Average Slovak salary could reach €1000 per month this year

Salaries in Slovakia should grow as a result of conditions in the labour market and regulation measures by the Government, reported the Pravda daily on Thursday. It is estimated that the average salary in the country was about €950 per month last year. This figure could reach €1,000 this year, and it is expected to grow by an additional €100 within the next two years, according to the latest estimates by the Finance Ministry's Financial Policy Institute. The Government's social package should also further influence salaries. The Government approved on Wednesday an increase in the allowance for those commuting to work and an increase in remuneration for night, weekend and holiday work. Salaries are growing more in the west of the country where they are as much as a third higher than in other regions.
