Slovakia will be represented by 56 athletes at the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Most of them (25) are members of the ice-hockey team and there are also 10 biathletes. Moreover, the competitors will be accompanied by 65 support staff. The Slovak Olympic team will have several medal hopes, for example, biathlete Anastasiya Kuzmina and skiers Veronika Velez-Zuzulová and Petra Vlhová. However, SOV president Anton Siekel said that he would be delighted with everyone who fights for the best possible place. "All those who deserved a nomination are there. It isn't easy to meet the criteria. It's very demanding just to qualify for the Olympics, and I see it as a great success for Slovak sport," said Siekel. The 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang are set to start on February 9th and will finish on February 25th.
