Economy Minister promises investment to struggling regions

The Economy Ministry along with the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) hold talks with at least 100 potential investors, Economy Minister Peter Žiga told TASR on Thursday. He reacted to the fact that the parliamentary committee for economic affairs is deliberating on Government-sponsored legislation on regional investment aid. "Two thirds of the investment structure will be focused on eastern, central and maybe southern Slovakia, whereas one third will go to the very least developed regions," stressed the minister. Legislation on regional investment aid is aimed at supporting investors interested in eastern, northern and southern Slovakia, where unemployment is higher. "Investors willing to come to western Slovakia will no longer enjoy so many options for receiving state aid," said Žiga.
